Wordsworth House in Cockermouth due to re-open March 13th!

After the floods of 2009, Wordsworth House will re-open its doors to the public on Saturday 13 March.   Visitors can now enjoy this atmospheric place, now open on Sundays - to discover how life was in the 1770s for young William and his sister Dorothy.  Look out for ‘conservation in action’ as the property team continue to restore the garden to its former glory – the spring bulbs are already showing through.   The house will host a new exhibition ‘A Force of Nature’ illustrating how the floods affected the staff and the town of Cockermouth – we expect this to be very popular.  Look out for their events programme packed with poetry readings, talks and tastings, and garden tours and events, including an evening with Poet Laureate, Carol Anne Duffy.
